Feel Good Friday

It has been hard to come up with a "Feel Good Friday" story when it has been a rough week. We've had snow, snow, and snow. Sure, I like winter (if I didn't I wouldn't live in a place where we seem to measure in feet instead of inches), and it is so pretty when it is coming down, but I am ready for spring. I'm ready for green grass, to hear birds singing, crickets chirping, dodging the yellow jackets that make the porch their home every year and to just be able to get outside with the little one and get some fresh air.

Of course, spring leads to summer, and I'm not so fond of summer heat, but that is for another time.

The little one has been testing her terrible two limits as of late. Nothing out in public per se, but at home we have had some good temper tantrums. Its been a test of will power and sheer stubbordness.

But, even so, she has started doing something with her Dad that makes me smile each time. If you tell her to go "nose-to-nose" with Daddy, she will walk right over to him, put her forehead up against his and go "nose-to-nose." It is the cutest thing but I haven't been able to get a picture of it yet. Both of them laugh loudly when they do this, and it seems to melt all the tension of the day away.

In this hustle and bustle world

I thought it would be nice to put down some of my favorite quotes, something that expresses the needs to relax, smell the flowers along the way, etc.

Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.

There is more to life than increasing its speed

30 Years Ago Yesterday

was the "Miracle On Ice." WOW!! Where does the time go?? I mentioned this to my Pops and he said, and I quote: "it wasn't that long ago . . . . . was it??" Yes, it was. 30 years!! Think of all the things that have happened in this 30 year time frame. All the progresses that have been made and even the steps back we have taken. 30 years!! Do you remember where you were?? Were you born at that time?? I was a youngster, but this is one of the vivid memories that I have from then.

Now here we are again with the Olympics in full-swing. Not sure if it would be considered another "miracle," as I don't believe you can compare the hockey team from today to the hockey team of then. But, the US hockey team is playing with heart and have just upset the Canadian hockey team, anything is possible.

Happy Sunday

The day has started off with the little one dancing all over the living room to the Go-Go's "Our Lips Are Sealed." She has this sumo pose that she does while she is dancing, or maybe it could be called a surfer pose, either way it is adorable. We expose her to all different types of music from the old time country, rock (she watched Iron Maiden last night), pop, old-time mellow stuff (Sinatra, Dean, etc) to new country, and to everything in between.

Oh, I missed "Feel Good Friday" this week. :-(

Daughter giggling

Been kind of down in the dumps today, a bit anxious and worried, but when hubby starts tickling the little one and she starts giggling loudly, that takes that mood away, even if it is only for a short time.

Mmmmmmmmmmm apples

We have disovered that Em loves apples. To me this is wonderful news. She loves most fruits and veggies and will eat some of whatever I give her. Why does this make me happy? Because her father hates fruits and vegeatables. I can get him to eat some lettuce with dressing on it every now and again, tomato sauce, peas, and maybe a few others, but most fruits gross him out.

But, I want Em to love to eat healthy items, so I have been starting her early. We have grapes, apples, cantaloupe, watermelon (can't wait for this to be back in season) and she absolutely loves tomatoes.

The Star Spangled Banner

I don't know what it is about this song being played but everytime it comes on the tv and the little one hears it, she stops what she is doing, stands in front of the tv and hums along. She started doing it a couple of months ago and it is very cute. This is the time I wish I had a camcorder so I could tape her.

Silly Saturday . . . :-)

Ahhhhhhhh, we can't sit on our little stool, we have to put it over our head and sit on the floor.

Feel Good Friday

Ahhhhhhhhh, it is Friday. I hope that everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend.

My feel good story of the week is about Em. She has picked up a new word ~ YUCK!! It is so cute on how she says it. When she takes a diaper out to the garbage all you can hear is: yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, all the way there and all the way back. To make sure she has told you how much she thinks it is yucky, she will get right in your face when she comes back and say "YUCK" and point.

Early morning serenity

This is the time from when the kitten and dog wake me up, till the little one decides that she is now awake enough to screech at the top of her lungs. What do I do at this time? I slowly make my way out into the living room, stepping on building blocks and tripping over our rescue kitten who has the bad habit of walking in between your legs while you are walking. Across the living room floor which is cold on my bare feet (I miss the carpet in here), and mumbling under my breath for not finding a pair of socks to put on. Looking up the temperature and seeing that it is below zero once again and dreading the fact that I have to take the dog out to do her "business." So, I sit here and type out an early morning rambling, and have now decided to go and curl back up under the big old comforter in a warm and cozy bed.

Daytona

Okay, I have to post about the race. I think hubster is going to start to think that this blog is just going to be my basic ramblings about our little one and PEEPS.

It is race season. The Daytona 500 is on Valentine's Day!?! :-) Wonder if they planned it that way, lol. I have always been a Sr fan, and I miss seeing him race and the 500 brings me sadness because of not being able to see the #3 on the track. But, I am also a Jr. fan and I am hoping for a much better season this year for him. Sometimes you can see Sr in Jr's eyes. Hubby on the other hand is a Jeff Gordon fan. I never really cared to watch Gordon race, but after the past few years I have started to root for him to win (if Jr. can't, of course). I guess, with hubby's help, he has started to grow on me. Of course, I'm always rooting for Mark Martin to win another one.

So, with this post, I wish the Hendrick boys good luck on Sunday. But my hope is that Jr will WIN!!!

I might be one of the few people that really love PEEPS

you know, those marshmallow, gooey, chewy, gobs of sugar. But I have never had these ones before.

I just have to say YUMMY!! I have a big old sugar high going right now. I had the chance to try them because a friend (thank you Heather) sent them to me. They came in the mail around 1:00 p.m. today and except for 1, the Peeps are gone. I couldn't help myself, I had to tear into them. I could smell them as soon as I opened the package up and it was like they were calling to me. But, I'm not going to make excuses for eating them. At first I thought the vanilla taste would have been overpowering, but it wasn't. PLUS, there isn't an aftertaste.

The only downside I have found (so far) is now I want more candy. Is it Easter time yet because I believe, I can hear in the distance, those Cadbury eggs calling out to me. :-)

Things that made me smile today

~ The little one running back and forth dragging a little extension cord and the kitten chasing her.

~ Hubby telling me he loves me.

~ The little one seeing a picture of herself on the computer, pointing and say "BA-BEEEEEEEEEE."
