Groove Kid Nation Music In Motion CD Review

I love doing product reviews for children's CD's/albums, etc.  My little girl loves music, all types of music.  We started her out listening to music at a very young age.  She actually got to listen to it while in womb as well.  So, on any given day she is listening and singing along to rock, or to country (her favorite right now is Red Solo Cup by Toby Keith) and dancing to the music.

I was given the opportunity to do a product review for Groove Kid Nation: Music In Motion which is a CD full of Kid's Songs .

The songs on the CD are:

1. Kool Katz
2. Itch and Scratch
3. Go Kat Go
4. Funky Chicken
5. Fast and Slow
6. 4 Little Kittens
7. Get up, Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose
8. Humpty Dumpty
9. I've Been Playing In A Soul Band
10. Play On It.

The CD also includes a 12-page booklet.

Description of CD:

Music in Motion continues off of the success of the critically acclaimed first release, The Wheels on the Bus. This time around, Lee and his team of top L.A. musicians recorded an album designed to get children moving to the beat while simultaneously learning about musical concepts and instruments.

Through groovy soul tracks, this mostly original set draws kids into the action with specific instructions on what to do from funny dances, to playing air guitar, to responding to musical cues, to simply nodding their heads to the beat.

An entirely new band of feline characters known as the Kool Katz guide the fun, and the enclosed 10-page booklet features colorful illustrations of each Kool Kat playing their own instrument.

Ten percent of the wholesale price of Music In Motion will be donated to CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting poverty.
Our Opinion:

You'll love this CD to get your kids going and interested in musical instruments.  The music is smooth and fun, great for kids of all ages.  I think my little one's favorite song was Humpty Dumpty that starred Humpty Dumpty on Bass.   Though she kept running through the house saying Funky Chicken, Funky Chicken, which starred Melody on Guitar.

I liked all the songs.  The beats are wonderful, easy to keep toe tapping to.  Even if you say you aren't going to toe-tap, you do.  I actually found myself dancing in "my chair." Doing some jamming with Miles and BoomKat to the song Itch and Scratch.

Again, you will love this CD for your kids.  It is fun and smooth, and the kids can sing and dance along.

Also, what is nice is that 10% of the wholesale price is donated to the CARE charity which helps fight poverty.

Want to read more about them, make a purchase, see what is up with any future CD's or just say hi,  then go and check them out at GrooveKidNation.com.  You can see all the musicians involved in making this CD.  Hear tracks of other music.  Join their newsletter and be able to get free downloads of music, coloring books and more.

You really have to go and check them out.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for allowing me to do a product review of this CD.  It is going to be a favorite of my little girl and mine for a long time coming.

Dr. Sears Zone Diet Product Review & Giveaway

I've always been skeptical of diets.  Eat this, don't eat that.  On one diet you could eat this, but on another they are telling you that is poison and not to eat it.

Where do you begin? Who do you believe?

Like a lot of people, I need to lose some weight, I know that, no one has to tell me that.

When Dr. Sears contacted me about doing a product review of the ZoneFast Weight Loss Program, I decided to take him and his company up on the offer.

This is a two-week program, and each week arrives separately.

This is what your first week package will look like when it arrives, all packaged up.  Your second week package will be similar but without the menu plan,  the getting started booklet or recipe booklet.  You can see what is included in the weekly shipments.

My Opinion:

I love how they lay it all out for you.  They suggest a two week menu for you which includes a recipe booklet so you can follow the recipes.  All is included, snacks as well.   As they say "they take the guesswork out of your meal planning."  It is all right there.

As for the food, like some things, you might need to have an acquired taste for it.  I'm not a huge granola fan, and a couple of times the menu calls for granola and milk.  Then there is the salmon bagel sandwich, not much of a chance of me eating salmon, or the humus.  As I said, an acquired taste might be needed.

But, I was pleasantly surprised at some of the meals.  There is a Tomato Mozzarella Sandwich that it yummy and easy to make.  The snacks are wonderful, cookies, bagel chips, a pretzel that is huge.  They are definitely satisfying.  They don't send your body into shock by removing every carb possible, I mean, you are eating bagels, pretzels, cinnamon toast, rolls and more. I love my bread, so this is a big plus for me.

My main issue with the program is the food that you must buy on the side to go with the meals, and some of the ingredients that they call for.  Doing this 2 week meal plan, I had to buy food for the meals and plus other groceries to make meals for my family.  Makes it difficult, especially if you are on a tight food budget.  But, you can go to Grocery Additions and it gives you hints on what you can add to your 2-week plan to make it work for you.

All and all, I was/am satisfied with this program.  I feel that it is an excellent jump start for people.  They can't make it any easier to follow along with the program.

If you are interested in checking out the 2 week plan you can go here to read more about it or to make a purchase  it for $179.99.

Or, thanks to Dr. Sears and his company graciously offering my readers a chance to win a 2-week shipment for themselves, you can enter below.  We will be giving away, not 1, not 2, but 3, 2-week shipments.  That is right, 3 of you will win!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Sears and his daughter Kristin for giving me this opportunity, and giving my readers the opportunity to win as well.

Smiley Cookie Jack O Lantern Gourmet Sugar Cookies Review

How can I turn down a chance to do a product review for cookies? I mean, cookies.  Really, would anyone turn it down?

I got the chance to do another product review for Smiley Cookies again this year.  Yes, I said again as I was picked last year to do a cookie review for them.  This year my review was for the Jack O Lantern Gourmet Sugar Halloween Cookies

With the holidays coming up it is time for all the cookies to start making appearances and if you would like something sweet for Halloween that isn't all candy then a Halloween Cookie would be the way to go.

Like always they arrive in a cute Smiley Cookie box.

My opinion (and my little one as she "tested" the cookies as well):

They definitely satisfy your sweet tooth.  I'm not a big candy corn fan (which is used on the cookie) but the flavor of it isn't that strong and doesn't override the taste of the sugar cookie.  When you see all the frosting you think "my gosh this is going to be super sweet," but really it isn't.  It has the right amount of sweetness from the frosting and candy and you still have the sugar cookie flavor shining through.

I give them two thumbs up for being sweetly satisfying.  Have a craving for something sweet? This definitely fills that craving.

My little one says that they are delicious.  It is a big cookie and I'm surprised that she ate the whole thing.  Now I'm going to have to hide them from her or she'll be trying to get into them all night long.

Two thumbs up again.

As I mentioned, these cookies are pretty good size and you get a dozen of them. Maybe you would like a little snack, something on the smaller size, then how about something from the Halloween Party Snack section?  Same great taste, just a smaller version.

They also have a Halloween Gift Basket that you can check out and purchase, if you would like.

So are you looking to purchase some fun, tasty, Halloween cookies? SmileyCookie has graciously offered my reader's, who go ahead and like their facebook page 20% off a purchase of any of their Halloween Cookie Gifts and Baskets, just head on over here new fan offer.

Disclaimer:

I received no monetary compensation for this product review.  All opinions expressed within are my own.  However, I did receive one dozen Halloween Cookies so that I could do a proper product review.

My thanks again to SmileyCookies for allowing me to do another review of their products.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Slugs & Bugs by Randall Goodgame and Andrew Peterson Review

As most of you know, that read my blog, or know us in real life, know I have a little girl who loves music.  She loves listening to it, dancing to it, and singing to it.  Everything from rock n' roll, to country to children's lullabies.

So, when Megan emailed me about the chance to do a review of the children's music CD Slugs & Bugs & Lullabies I gladly accepted.

Songs on the CD:
1. Stop.
2. Post Office.
3. Piggy Little Toes.
4. God Made Me.
5. Dreams.
6. Bears.
7. Who's Got The Ball.
8. Up.
9. Tractor Tractor.
10. Chicken Wiggle.
11. Beans.
12. Tiger.
13. The Boy Who Was Bored.
14. You Can Always Come Home.
15. May The Lord Bless And Keep You.
16. Beautiful Girl.
17. My Baby Loves To Dance.
18. Settle In My Child, And Sleep.

The songs were written by Andrew Peterson & Randall Goodgame.  Do their names sound familiar? Well, if you (or your children) are a Veggies Tale fan, the names might be familiar as they have written songs for them.

The new  CD will be released to the public on October 25, 2011 and is called Slugs & Bugs Under Where?

If you would like some more information about it or to order your own copy (they have digital available as well) you can just head on over here.  They also have a facebook page that I do recommend that you go and check out and "like" them.

Randall Goodgame is continuously on tour and you can go to the Slugs & Bugs site to find out where he will be appearing next. Also, they do have a youtube channel if you want to catch them out "live" via youtube.

My take/opinion:

Loved it.  The little one loved it.  Yes, you can tell from a few of the titles that the songs deal with the Lord or God, but it isn't "shove it down your throat" type of music.  These songs are fun and believe me when I tell you that they are catchy.  You will get them in your head and won't be able to get them out.  I've tried.  But I find myself humming them much later after the CD player has been turned off.  Plus, really, can you forget that name?

My favorite song on the CD is Dreams.

The little one loved Tractor Tractor and Chicken Wiggle, well she loved all the songs and started dancing immediately as soon as I put the CD in.  You just can't help but to tap your toe to this songs as they are playing.

You can also head on over to the Slugs & Blugs blog and find out information with tours and see some concert footage.

Trust me when I tell you that you and your kids are going to love this CD.

Disclaimer:

I received no compensation for my review.  All opinions expressed within are my own.  However, I did receive a copy of Slugs & Bugs & Lullabies, free of charge so that I could do a proper product review.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Megan for contacting me about doing this CD review, and my thanks also go out to Andrew Peterson & Randall Goodgame and the entire team.

Recently, I was given the chance to do a eBook review of Weirder Than Marshmallows Book of Essays by Dan Fogg.  I really didn't know what to expect from reading just the title, I guess, something that would be, well, weirder than marshmallows.  If that was even possible.

Well, apparently it is.

If you want to see what I am saying you can check them out here: Weirder Than Marshmallows .

Dan really put it out there.  Said what most of us think and put it down on paper.

Parts of the book that were my favorite dealt with the "Don't Stop On Tracks" signs.  Common sense to a lot of us, but people still do it.  You know those warnings have been put in place because someone has done it.  Kind of like one that I always remember on a hair dryer "don't use in tub." You know someone has done it at one time or the other, so people have to intervene and put up signs or put little warnings on, well hairdryers.

Weirder Than Marshmallows is non-fiction and deals with real life occurrences to people. Dan talks about it all and rather bluntly, no one is safe, not even his Dad in this book.

There are times when you'll be shaking your head at what you are reading and other times you'll be laughing out loud at some of the things that people do "finkin' pink."

I enjoyed it, it was an easy read, but there are parts that are a bit dry, but they balance out and I think that you would enjoy this eBook as well.

Sadly, Dan passed away in 2002 but his Mom is making sure that his stories get out there to us and I thank her for that, and to allow us to read what Dan wrote.

Check it out, you won't be sorry that you did.

Now I will leave you with a quote:

People have ideas all the time, ambition is just the stubbornness to follow through.” - Daniel Fogg, 2001

If you would like to win your very own eBook copy of this book, just fill out your info below.  I'm trying rafflecopter (please give it a minute to pop up) with this giveaway to see how it runs.  Easy entry, just need your name and email address and if you would like to do the other things that is great.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
