Feel Good Friday

Welcome to another installment of

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

Brought to you by:

So, what made me feel good this week?!?  Oh, there were things here and there.  There were also rough patches, but we got through them.

  • We are in the terrible twos.  We are deep in the terrible twos.  Wherever we go, a temper tantrum normally follows.  We had one horrible one this week, which involved me being kicked, slapped, and her on the floor kicking and screaming. I finally got the little one back in her car seat and onward home we went.  I told her that her behavior was unacceptable and that is why we left the establishment.  I told her that she hurt mommy and hurt mommies feelings because of her actions.  She stopped screaming and looked at me and said "sorry Mommy."  I doubt she understands fully what that means, but it was just weird that she decided at that time to tell me she was sorry.

  • The other thing that made me feel good this week?!?  YOU ALL!! Peeps on my facebook page, on a few forums I belong to, etc.  You see this week (yesterday actually) was my birthday and I was feeling a big down.  But I got a TON of birthday wishes.  Even from people who I have never met.  It was awesome and made me feel good.

So, tell me?  What made you feel good this week?

Feel Good Friday

Welcome to my Feel Good Friday post.

My post this week has to do with family.  No, not my little girl or hubby, but about my brother.  I haven't seen him since Em was born.  He left the state shortly after for greener pastures (okay, where he went doesn't have greener pastures), but let's just say that he is thousands and thousands of miles away from here.

He came "home" for a visit this past week and we were all able to spend time together, to catch up, face to face.  It is not that I don't talk with my brother.  I do.  We text.  We facebook.  We email.  But it isn't the same.

Us three "kids" (myself and my two brothers) and our spouses went to dinner on Wednesday and it was nice to just sit there and chat and share some laughs.  It was a nice and relaxing atmosphere, and it was fun.

As for Em?!? Oh, she wanted nothing to do with him.  I took her over numerous times to see him and she hid behind me or just plain threw a temper tantrum.  When we weren't there she was always saying "see Uncle, see Uncle."  But when the time came to actually see him it was a whole different story.  But, he did get his "full" of kids as my nephew pretty much hounded him the whole time he was here.

So . . . . remember your family.  Spend time with them.  Yes, chatting on facebook or email is okay (especially when you are thousands of miles apart) but the face to face interaction is important as well.

Have an awesome weekend my friends.

Feel Good Friday

Brought to you by the letters F,G,F (been watching way to much Sesame Street) and The Girl Next Door Grows Up.

It has actually been a couple of weeks (maybe more) since I have participated in this. Just seems like Fridays come and go and its the end of the day before I realize that I haven't chatted about what made me feel good.

One of the things that made me feel good this week is the update that was done on my blog. My friend Angela over at MommyPR really hooked me up, and I have gotten a bunch of positive responses from it. I really like it. Of course, as I'm typing this out at 6:00 a.m., as the house is all quiet, a ladybug is crawling up my arm. Coincidence?? I had to brush him/her off though because, yes, ladybugs do bite, but that is a whole separate post.

What else made me feel good? Well it just happened. The Girl Next Door was talking about their upcoming road trip and it brought back alot of fun memories I had with Mom. Her and I would get in the vehicle and just go. Most of the time it was to go and catch up with her Aunt, my Great Aunt Dora, who was on the road somewhere with Smokey's. It would just be her and I. Later, we use to go to the casino together and spend the night. Even when she got sick, she would still want to go. I treasure those moments. I miss those moments.

So, everyone, how was your week?

Feel Good Friday

Feel Good Friday is brought to you by The Girl Next Door Grows Up .

You know what time of the week it is ~ YES!!! It is Friday and that can only mean one thing. Okay, it means more then one thing, but for this post it means:

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

As you can see I've been slacking a bit on the blog for the past week to 10 days. Being sick has really wore me out. Plus, trying to get things done around here has been time consuming as well.

I'm not going to make a big list this week, I'm just going to mention something that made me feel good this morning while I was laying in bed (get your minds out of the gutter) deciding if I wanted to get up or not.

My family!

Not my immediate family (brothers, father, etc). Though, yes they do count and I love them dearly.

I'm talking about my husband and my little girl.

Up to about 3-4 years ago I never thought that I would have my own family. I had been single for a long time and there were no prospects on the horizon for me. I've always been the type of girl that had mostly guy friends, and none of them were dating prospects. They would see me as their little sister and things along those lines.

My Moms use to tell me all the time (I miss you Moms) that I would never meet anyone staying in the house all the time. Which I admitted I did. She was right.

Then in 2007 a friend introduced me to my now husband. Both he and I told our friend the same thing "well we'll meet for coffee anf talk, but I'm not promising anything."

The first conversation wasn't coffee, but sitting in my driveway in his truck. At first it was a little awkward, but soon the minutes turned into hours. At the end he gave me a picture of him in his race car, and from then on out we were together.

Then my little angel came into the picture and I fell in love all over again.

So ladies and gents, this is my Feel Good Friday story and what made me feel good this morning. My family. Yes, we have had our ups and downs, but alot of couples do. The main thing is that we are able to work through them. It might take a day or two, but we know it is worth fighting for.

Have a great and safe holiday weekend everyone.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

I've been sick for the past couple of days and feel like I've been rundown by a truck (anyone get the license plate??), so I'm having a hard time coming up with what to feel good about.

I'm sure that good things have happened!!

Okay, I know that good things have happened.

But, everyone knows when your sick you brain is fuzzy and it is hard to think.

I have come up with a couple of things to share though.

The other night my little one was rocking it out to Louis Armstrong's "Hello Dolly." I mean really, how could that not bring a smile to anyone's face.

Then this morning when hubby got up, he took the blanket that he was covered up with a covered me up and tucked it all in so I would be nice and warm.

Come to think about it. Was he trying to keep me warm, or trying to stop me from moving?!? :-)

Anyway, I hope that you all have a wonderful Friday and a fabulous weekend.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

What is there to feel good about this week?

1) My little one's smiles and all the new words she is learning (though I wish she would forget the word "no" at this point.

2) The news that the weather is finally going to cool off for a couple of days again. Nothing like feeling like a cookie in the oven 24/7 and hopefully it'll be easier to get some sleep.

3) My new followers. I love having them here and I enjoy visiting their blogs as well.

4) Good friends calling on the phone to just say "what's up?"

5) I wub you Mommy. Enough said. :-)

How has your week been?

You know what time of the week it is ~ YES!!! It is Friday and that can only mean one thing. Okay, it means more then one thing, but for this post it means:

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

We got through a hot week. Hot! Humid! Hazy! The type of air that you can chew when you are outside. The type of air that you don't even want to go outside in.

But, he it is. Another Friday. Another week. Another story.

What do I have to feel good about this week?

There are always a bunch of little things. New words. Small sentences. That little smile that you get from your little ones.

Then there is also:

~ Sprint Car Races. Went to my first. It was fun and a needed break out of the house so that counts as something that made me feel good this week.

~ Another first?!? Weird Al concert. Seriously, I thought that I would never ever attend a concert of his. He can put on a show. He does have a great voice, and a ton of energy (changes costumes frequently), not to mention he seems to be down to earth. He met with everyone after the show and signed autographs or took pictures, free of charge. Very fun night.

~ Which leads me to this feel good part of the week: Free tickets. Yep, I won both the race tickets, and the Weird Al tickets. Now that you can feel good about.

~ Catching up with old friends. Nothing like finding people who were in your life years ago and seeing how they are doing. Old friends rock.

~ Finally, a break from the weather. Hopefully. I don't normally feel good about a weather report that says we are going to be in the 80's, but after the week we have had, it is a good number to shoot for.

And, how was your week?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

Well it has been a crazy week.

Though nothing out of the ordinary has really happened.

My Feel Good Friday story is about the new sentence that the little one has picked up. It is cute and annoying at the same time. Well, right now it is cute, but if she does it when she is a teen-ager I will know that she is trying to get under my skin.

Em likes to get into things. The water dish, the cat food, the dog food, or the garbage can. Normally, she goes from one thing to another. She also likes to sit on the kitchen table and I'm always telling her to get down off the table, the chairs, the arm of the recliner, and so on.

Her new response whenever I say these things to her (as in the past couple of days):

"Yes Mommy!"

I'm not sure where she picked it up. Or, if the hubby has taught it to her. But that is her response to whatever I say to her.

As I said, right now it is cute.

When she is a teen-ager and I have to say something similar to her and she replies with a sigh and a "Yes Mooooooooooooooooom" I'll know she is doing it to be a smartmouth, lol.

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful week, and has plenty to feel good about.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

I have been slacking on my Feel Good Friday stories.

I apologize. It is not that I don't feel good. Okay, there are days, but we all have them. I hope to do better.

The little one and I just have a short Feel Good Friday story to share.

This happened yesterday afternoon.

I am sure I misheard her.

Afterall, sleep has been a rarity lately, and sometimes it feels like I am running in slow motion.

We were playing catch in the house (shhhhhhhhh), with a wiffle softball. She handed me a spatula that she had gotten out of the strainer.

So, I tossed the ball up in the air, and used the spatula as a bat.

The ball went by her, and she got this look on her face that was so precious.

Then she says, and I swear this is what I heard: "egads Mommy."

Maybe it was lack of sleep, but I just started laughing.

We all know that laughter is contagious, so she started laughing, which made me laugh harder.

I will miss these times when she no longer wants to play spatula wiffle ball with Mommy.

You know what time of the week it is ~ YES!!! It is Friday and that can only mean one thing. Okay, it means more then one thing, but for this post it means:

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

What makes me feel good on this lovely sunny day?

Well, it is sunny {so far}. It is not horribly hot out. I'm not a heat person, and I am sure I have mentioned that in many previous posts. Yes, it is good that the sun is out nice and bright. But we need the rain still. We get some here and there, but it isn't enough.

Lets see: Oh potty training might be starting to get a little better. She went twice yesterday on her potty. BUT, yes there is always a but, not a butt, but a BUT. Every time she would go a little she would jump up and yell ~ PEE and point to the potty. This was in the process of while she was still going.

I am the center of my little girl's universe (or so it seems). Everything is Mommy, mommy, mommy, mama, mom . . . . whether she is yelling to show me something, or she is having one of her mad fits, it all seems to be about the mama. Just a little while ago, when I was talking with my Dad on the phone, she kept trying to grab my hand and take me into the bedroom. I figured it was because she had spilled something or was just tormenting the cats, but she wanted my help in getting one of her toys down so she could play with it. All about the mama.

The new things she learns everyday brings a huge smile to my face. It seems like everything excites her.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

You know what time of the week it is ~ YES!!! It is Friday and that can only mean one thing. Okay, it means more then one thing, but for this post it means:

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

I missed this last week. Not sure what I was thinking. Or, even if I was thinking at all. I wrote about fish. Yummy, crunchy, fish. Good stuff, but not Feel Good Friday stuff.

There have been numerous things that have made me smile this week.

~ The little one is learning so much. Picking up new words left and right now. Talking in short simple sentences. Her father was trying to teach her caterpillar this morning, she almost had it.

~ Seeing people pitching in and helping out a friend or a stranger always makes me smile.

~ Your blogs. What can I say. There are blogs that make me laugh quite hard. Some of your posts bring a smile to my face even if I'm having a messed up day. I don't want to name any names as I don't want anyone to feel left out. I just want to thank you all for letting me share your lives with you.

~ Being able to sit outside at night, under the stars with hubby and just relax. Of course, this is after the little one goes to sleep. We started doing this while I was pregnant for her. He'd make sure I was nice and warm, and he still gets me a blanket and makes sure I am nice and warm while we are out there.

~ My hubby makes me smile. He can really tick me off as well. Ask him, he'll tell you. But he does make me smile because he loves me and accepts me for who I am, as I do him as well. I know this road hasn't been easy, but we are trying to walk it together. We've been together about 3 years and 4 months, will be married for 2 this month, and also have a little one that is about 27 months old.

So, how was your week?!?

Feel Good Friday

Feel Good Friday is brought to you by The Girl Next Door Grows Up .

Yes, it is that time of the week. If you want to know what Feel Good Friday is all about, just click the above link and hurry on over and check it out.

Yesterday the little one and I went to one of the local farms to see the animals, go for a hayride, etc.

They have a petting area where you can feed goats, llamas, rabbits, pigs, reindeer, and even a camel. Plus, there are ducks and roosters and hens all over the place. I almost backed out going because when we pulled into the driveway, there were school busses there and kids running all over the place. But, I promised Em (even though she probably didn't know the difference) that we would stop and visit with the animals.

So, after paying admission, and getting some popcorn to feed the goats, off we went.

I wasn't sure how any of it was going to go because when we normally take her up to a friend's farm to see the cows, she won't go near them.

I wasn't able to get a lot of pictures because I was keeping an eye on her and at times I forgot I even had the camara in my pocket.

She loved feeding the goats the popcorn and giggled everytime one took a piece of popcorn out of her hands. I kept thinking she was going to get bit, but the goats just used their tongues to gently take it.

Then it was off to the llamas. The crazy, wild haired llamas. She kept grabbing handfuls of grass to feed them.

Then we walked over to the barn to see the pig and her new piglets.

Poor Mama pig was out cold and snoring loudly. It appeared that she was having a rough day. Daddy pig was in the next pen and he was sound asleep as well.

We sat down and relaxed for a little bit and watched the ducks while waiting our turn for the hayride. Em was laughing loudly at a hen that was chasing the mallards all over the place. Pretty sure that the hen thought it was a duck.

Off for the hayride, and the feeding of the cows.

This place has 2 of the biggest cows I have ever seen. One has been there for years and is humungous.

Em was able to feed this lady some bagels. Cutest thing I have seen. At first when that long tongue came out she started to panic, but she held it out for her and the cow took it right out of her hand.

All and all it was a fun few hours for Em. She was able to explore all over, feed animals, and went on her first hayride. I'm planning on taking her back sometime soon.

So, how was your week??

Feel Good Friday

Feel Good Friday is brought to you by The Girl Next Door Grows Up .

Yes, it is that time of the week. If you want to know what Feel Good Friday is all about, just click the above link and hurry on over and check it out.

Well ~ I have a pretty easy Feel Good Friday story this week.

It is . . . .

I feel good.

Not great.

But good.

If you read my previous post you can see that I got sick late last Saturday night and I have been sick all week with a lovely stomach flu.

I had a path worn between the bedroom and bathroom.

The animals took cover when they heard me come flying out of the bedroom.

The little one ended up with a milder version of it and was down and out for a couple of days but she is doing better as well. Though it is highly contagious, hubby never got it.

Oh . . .

What else made me feel good?

I knew Pops (who had this the week before last) was running to town the other day and I asked him to pick me up a pack of baby wipes (we were down to two left in the package) and a couple of Gatorades to get into the little one and I so we could start getting hydrated again.

You know what he did??

He came home with a case of each.

That is my Pops for you.

There is something that has made me sad this week though and I will do a seperate post about it. Let's just say I missed doing something that I should have done on Sunday because I was sick and I could kick myself for it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Feel Good Friday

Feel Good Friday is brought to you by The Girl Next Door Grows Up .

If you want to see what it is all about just click the link, you'll be glad that you did.

My story this week is about my Pops.

My Dad. The strong silent type.

The man who I know always has my back.

Sure, we had some issues while I was growing up. I got my stubborness from him so we did butt heads.

It makes me smile to see him so happy when the grandchildren are visiting him. He has a few that he never sees, so we try to make up for it with the grandchildren he does. My one brother lives close so he is able to see his grandson and granddaughter frequently and then of course I live next door so he is able to see my daugher frequently as well.

The other day he was on his tractor with his grandson and over the loudness of the tractor I could hear him singing at the top of his lungs.

One day he watched Em for me so I could run some errands and as I was walking up the stairs to his place I could hear them laughing in the living room. When I walked in, Em was hopping all over the place, completely wrapped up in a plastic slinky.

I know it does bring him sadness though when he thinks about Mom not being able to be here enjoying her grandchildren as well. My one niece was old enough and able to spend 3 years or so with Mom, but she never "met" my brother's son, or my daughter. But I tell him that she does "see" them and is always with them and looking out for them and I'm sure she is holding on tightly to the little ones I have lost.

I know this is suppose to be Feel Good Friday, and I just turned the story sad, which I apologize for.

So, my Feel Good Friday story is the happiness it brings me to see the joy on my Pops face when he is spending time with the grandchildren.

I hope everyone has had a fabulous weekend

Feel Good Friday

Well this week I was just going to skip the FGF as it has been one of those weeks where you really have to look for the good.

Or, so I thought.

How can you strain to find the good in things when you have a two year old bundle of joy that runs laps around you all the time?

Em and all her new words, and she is still doing the "mommmmmmeeeeee, mooommmmeeeeee, moooooommmmmmmmeeee" thing all the time. This is what it reminds me of, and she makes me laugh each time she gets going with it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNkp4QF3we8

Other things that have rocked hard this week ~

* My Pops mowed the lawn for the first time this year. Well, at least part of it. It is so green, and smelled so good. Of course, today is cold and has been spitting snow on and off.

* Taking Em down to see the new calves and watching her eyes light up.

* I also got my vehicle back from the mechanics on Wednesday. The story of my adventure is in last weeks Feel Good Friday. It was a LOT more then I expected, but I was able to borrow the money from Dad and will pay him back when I can.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Its Friday so you know what that means ~ FEEL GOOD FRIDAY!!

Here is I sit at the computer with my little girl climbing all over me, stepping on my bare feet, sitting on them, and giggling at Rory The Racing Car on TV, as I try to come up with a Feel Good Friday topic. Then, WHAM BAM, I have a story that a stranger is doing for me. I'm not going to name the particulars of it, but I want to share. So here goes:

The basic part is I 'won' a very cool Hard Rock Cafe "Pinktober" t-shirt and key chain and pin. When I emailed the individual involved in sending it to me I told her how she made my day. After a long day yesterday, having this arrive, filled me with some smiles. But, not just because I won something very cool, but because this 'prize' was going to make someone else smile. See, I was sending this prize on to someone else. I have a friend, whose very AWESOME Mom has been battling breast cancer, and all along I knew that I was going to send this on to her.

So what did this wonderful stranger do: she emailed me back and told me that she was sending me two more t-shirts that I could send along to my friend and her Moms. Then about 30 seconds later she emailed me again that she had more of the key chains that she was including. I mean, truly, how COOL is that?? Really, I'm not use to people doing these types of things and she had me flustered that I had to take a few minutes to reply back to her email. This unknown woman and the company that she works for have truly made my day.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Feel Good Friday

(I haven't yet figured out how to post one of those banners :-) )

Well, today is going to be an easy FEEL GOOD FRIDAY moment, as today March 5, is my little girl's 2nd birthday. Why does this make me feel good? Because I never thought that I would have a child. I had concluded (to myself anyway) that I was destined to be alone. My last "relationship" (if you could call it that) ended in 2000, and from that point on I was alone. I went to work and came home, that was it. I very seldom left the place or when I did I mainly went to my folks house to spend time with my Moms (who was terminally ill ~ I MISS YOU MOMS!!) Mom use to tell me I wasn't going to meet anyone sitting on my couch, and she was right.

In 2007 my friend introduced me to my now husband and we got pregnant shortly after we got together. Sadly I lost the baby, but 2-months later we were pregnant again with our little girl. I knew she was going to be a stubborn little one when I was admitted to the hospital on the 3rd (was due on Feb. 29) and she didn't come into this world till the 5th.

For a downer moment, and I'm not sure if this has ever happened to anyone else. I have had people come up to me and say "I never pictured you as a Mom!" Or, my "fave" one was when a friend (who is older then I am) was holding her shortly after she was born and she handed her back to me and some guy said "oh your grandmom is going to hold you??" Ummmmmmmmm hello, I'm her Mom. But I don't let things like that get to me. My little one brings me joy. The way she just looks at us and grins, you can see the hope of the future in her eyes. Her giggles fill the house as she is chasing around the kitten. Every day she has a new accomplishment, a new word, or a new story to tell and the giggles fill the house all over again. There have been some scary moments. She has a hole in her heart, but according to her cardiologist it is healing, thankfully there is a wonderful pediatric cardiologist a little over an hour from here.

So, on this day, my little girl was brought into this world and from that moment on life has been a wonderful roller coaster ride.

She is my FEEL GOOD FRIDAY story, as well as my feel good Saturday through Thursday story.

Happy Birthday Emelie. Mommy and Daddy love you very much.
