Dial COCONUT WATER Regreshing Mango BODY WASH Giveaway #PurexInsider

I know that I have mentioned many times before that I love being a #PurexInsider. It is awesome! We get to try new products and 99% of the time we get to giveaway something to our readers and this is posting is no exception to that.

I have become a body wash freak! But, unlike a lot of people, I use the body wash during a soaking in the tub instead of the shower. I especially love body washes that are a Hydrating Body Wash or a Moisturizing Body Wash as I have sensitive and dry skin. I am always looking for a Fresh Body Wash that will leave me with Healthy Skin! Aren't you?

I have to admit that when I was able to try the Dial Vitamin Boost Body Wash, that became a favorite of mine, and though I still love it, I think that I have a new favorite in the Dial Coconut Water Refreshing Mango Body Wash

I have tried it twice since I've received it (no honey, it is research for a blog post, yes, I have to take a bath/soak), and am in love with this. I absolutely love the fragrance of it. Not to strong, but still leaves a soft smell on your skin when you get out. Not heavy at all and leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Then, there are the bubbles:

I love bubbles! The more bubbles the better! That amount is from about a cap and a 1/2 full of the body wash. With the tub full of bubbles it is just so inviting!! Didn't really want to get out after I got in. Even though the blog post is being written now, might have to do more "research" on it tonight!

If you haven't checked out any of the Dial Body Washes, then I really think you should.  I am sure you will find one or two (or more) to your liking!

Now, guess what?? I received three coupons to giveaway to our readers! So, 3 of you will win a coupon for a free (full size) bottle of the Dial Coconut Water Refreshing Mango Body Wash!!

Just check out the rules below and enter via the rafflecopter form!!

Many thanks to Dial & Purex for allowing our blog to participate in this promotion.

Disclosure: The Dial Brand provided me with my sample of Dial Coconut Water Refreshing Mango Body was in exchange for my honest opinion of this product. I received no monetary compensation and all opinions expressed are my own!

FulcrumGallery.com Product Review

Though I have been in my place for well over a dozen year, I still don't have much hanging on the walls. A photograph here, a photograph there of the kiddo and other family members. Not even in the bedroom do I have anything (at all) hanging on the walls.

I decided a couple of months ago, I wanted to make the bedroom, a calming oasis of goodness. I wanted things in there that would make me happy, make me relaxed and make me daydream. So, when I was contacted by Cassidy at FulcrumGallery.com, I knew that this could be my starting point.

I wanted to pick out a picture that would be relaxing to look at, something to make you smile, something to make you wish you were "there."  So, I went with the  contemporary realism art section and I chose a piece that sort of spoke to me and made me wish I was right there, in that moment, on that beach.

My choice was the: Paradise Sunset by Diane Romanello. which is a Fine Art Print on Paper and it also came with a beautiful Mahogany Petite Frame.

I knew right where it was going as soon as I received it.

Right above the bed and yes, it looks good there. It brightens up the room. Think I fell in love with this print as soon as I opened up the box.

As for hanging it up, very easy to do. Just took the tape off the one piece on the back, screwed that into the wall and then hung up the picture on it.

And you can see the great pride that they take into the frame work and the inspection of it. Two people (signatures) inspected this before it was packaged up and sent out.

As for a final opinion. I really have nothing bad to say about this print or this company. I think if you choose to go with them you will really love the service that you get. The print was packaged so well it took me a bit to get it undone and it was shipped super fast.

I really believe you should go to FulcrumGallery.com and check them out if you are looking for prints, artwork, etc. They have a sale going on right now where you can get up to 50% off your item. You can also have them convert your photos into prints. That would be a great holiday present for family members.  The choices are almost unlimited because they carry such a huge selection.

I know that you will find something that you fall in love with on sight, and just want to escape into, just like I did. I know when I go to look for my next piece to add to our home, FulcrumGallery.com is where I am going to look.

Disclaimer: I received an art print in return for my honest review, free of charge. However, all opinions expressed herein are my own and were not influenced by any outside source.

Many thanks to Cassidy and FulcrumGallery for allowing me to do this review.

Soap Nuts Liquid Laundry Detergent Review

Disclaimer: I received a product, free of charge, for my honest review, however, all opinions expressed are my own.

I was given the opportunity to do a product review for Soap Nuts from Green Virgin Products.  I have to admit they my opinion beforehand was "organic laundry soap? yeah, lets see how well this works."

What are Soap Nuts? Glad you asked:

They come from the fruit of the Chinese Soap Berry Tree and are dried in the hot sun.  They don't use any toxic chemicals, but has the same cleaning abilities as the soaps that do. They are hypoallergenic, so if you have issues with other laundry soap detergents, you should be okay with this one and Soap Nuts Liquid is a green product, thus creating no pollution for our awesome planet.

Soap Nuts are USDA Certified Organic.

The bottle that I was sent is good for 120 HE washes, which is two squirts (pumps) per load. I don't have an HE washer so, as instructed, I used three squirts for the load of laundry. You can also get the Soap Nuts Liquid with Pre-Spotter for an extra $6.85.

Because this product is made with the extract of a fruit, it has a very short life span, only a couple of weeks, so a couple of preservatives had to be added to make it last longer. With these two preservatives (which are almost completely non-toxic) it gives the product a shelf life of about two years. Hypoallergenic and negative carbon footprint.

Our opinion?

Soap Nuts Liquid is very easy to use. Super easy. Two squirts or three squirts the choice is yours. Non messy. It squirts out the right amount of liquid each time.

My one issue is that when I look inside the washer, I like to see suds/soap. I like to know that the product is working or appears to be working. With Soap Nuts Liquid, I saw no suds.

As for the final conclusion, it did do an okay job on the kiddo's and my clothes. I had small stain/spot on this shirt and as you can see from the close-up pic, it is gone, or at least I can't see it there.

As for my hubby's clothes? It didn't do to well. But he is dirty. He comes home covered in agricultural stuff, like tractor grease and grime. So, it didn't really clean his work shirts or his jeans very well.

As you can see, he still has a couple spots, they were faded, but I did have to rewash his shirts.

If you are looking for a Organic Laundry Detergent for your HE Washer, I do believe you should check them out. Maybe get the Pre-spotter with it, that would probably help if you have stubborn dirt and grime on your clothes. For normal washing, it did a fine job. Better than what I anticipated, especially when I opened up the lid and saw no suds.

Out of a rating of 1 (worse) to 5 (best) I would definitely give them a 4.  Was a good effort on hubby's clothes, but it fell short by just a tad.

Many thanks to Soap Nuts for allowing us to do this product review.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Spellbinders Celebra'tions Collection by Richard Garay Review & Giveaway

Truth be told I am not overly crafty. I had fiddled around with things years back. Building little bird houses and painting them, finding little things in the craft store and painting them, but really, I wasn't much good. Seems like the things never turned out like they should and I really didn't have the patience to do them (except for those hook-latch rug kits).

Then I got the chance to check out the Spellbinders Celebra'tions Collection by Richard Garay.

Inspired by his passion for paper crafts, event hosting and handmade greetings, Richard Garay designed the line to help paper crafters and hostesses achieve beautiful results every time. Everything is coordinated, so this cheerful, bright and exciting collection makes creating a Celebration not only easy but also fun.
I was sent two Spellbiders Celebra'tions Collections Kits to have fun with and put together.

Celebrate Party Hat Card

Best Day Ever Treat Bag

I have to admit, I am kind of proud of myself and my end results. It was really a lot of fun putting these papercrafts together. When done right, they really look like a piece of paperart. My favorite out of the two was the card making craft. That one took a little more patience to put together, but it was fun doing it.  I really think Richard Garay hit the hammer on the head with these, and it isn't just these types of papercrafts that they have, there is embossing, die cutting, rubber stamping and Make and Take projects. I think that you would really enjoy these. Fun for the whole family.

Perfect gifts, stocking stuffers, etc. Do you know where else these would probably fit in and be fun for the participants: retirement centers, nursing homes, etc. So many possibilities.

Now, do you want to see my final results??

The Best Day Ever Treat Bag (photo courtesy of Spellbinders) is suppose to look like this:

The finished product of mine looked like this:

And mine, looked like this:

Not bad, I think. What do you all think?

Also, guess what? Spellbinders provided me with a little stamp kit to give away to one of our readers!!!! YAY!

Cute little 15 piece clear polymer stamps will go to the winner.

Many thanks to the PurexInsiders team and Spellbinders for allowing me to participate in this promotion.

Blogiversary Celebration Giveaway #1

It is our 6th year "blogiversary!" Wow. 6 years. I am really surprised by that. I started blogging shortly after our kiddo was born. Mainly it was just to chat about what life as "older/mature" first time parents were. Or me being an AMA (advanced maternal age momma).  From there it has grown.

I love sharing things with our readers. Obviously, I don't get to personal as I like to keep our personal lives, well personal. But I do love chatting away with you all. Whether it be here on the blog or on facebook and twitter. You can always find me on one of them.

We have now grown a little bit into the path that I want the blog to take. Officially we are starting our homeschool journey, so I'll be talking about that (and hosting giveaways that revolve around homeschooling). I am also hoping to grow our giveaways by getting more sponsors and hopefully some bigger prizes. I am like you all, I love entering sweeps (do it daily) and having the opportunity to win awesome prizes that I can't just go out and buy. That makes it all fun.

I know that a lot of our prizes are small, but I'm working on getting sponsors. Of course to get bigger sponsors you have to have more readers and more site hits with high rankings and at this point we are pretty small compared to some of the blogs out there (with every one sponsor/company that is willing to give us a try, I get one hundred nos). But rest assured, I am working on it and hope to continue to grow the blog.

We always welcome suggestions, so please feel free to share if you have any. Just remember, this is a family blog, please keep it clean.

So, how are we celebrating our 6 years Blog Anniversary? I am glad that you asked!! We are giving things away. Some small, some a little bigger. Hopefully a little something for everyone and we will be doing it all month long. I am hoping to come up with enough to spread it out a bit.

On a final note, we would like to thank all of YOU! Without you, the blog wouldn't be as fun as it is. We thank you for sticking with us, for hanging out, for just dropping in to say hi.

THANK YOU

Now, how about on to our first anniversary giveaway!

Prize: The Dark Elements White Hot Kiss Paperback Book (book is new) by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Giveaway will end on: July 31, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. est and is open to residents of the US who are 18+. Please only one entrant per household.

To enter just check out the rafflecopter form below. Very easy entries.

The Reading Lesson Teach Your Child To Read in 20 Easy Lessons Review & Giveaway

When I decided (a few years back) to homeschool my daughter, one of my main concerns was: Am I going to be able to teach her how to read? If I can't teach her how to read, then how am I going to be able to homeschool her successfully?

It has been a slow moving process. I would be lying if I didn't say that there has been some frustrations (on both our parts) and some tears. But, the one thing I have learned (with a little help from some friends) is that kids will learn to read when they are ready to read. You can't force them to read. Trying to will get you nowhere and you will have an upset child who might end up to hate reading.

So, like I've said it has been a slow process, but in the past 6-months she has come a long way with it. There are days I realize we aren't getting anywhere, so we do something else.  There are other days, I'm shocked (and very happy) at how fast she is picking things up.

It also doesn't hurt to have a little help when it comes to trying to teach someone to read. That is where The Reading Lesson comes in. I was contacted by Nina at the Reading Lesson and asked if we would be interested in doing a product review of their "Teach your child to read in 20 easy lessons" and I jumped at the chance. 20 easy lessons? Oh yeah, I'm in.

This is a pic of it new, it so doesn't look like this anymore.

So, how does it work?

We've been taking our time with it and only doing about 3 pages a day. It tells you that if you are starting with a child that is under age 5 you should do one page daily, five to six years old is 2-3 pages per day and over six years of ages 3 or more pages a day.

Each lesson begins with three or four sounds and introduces sight words and key words as you go along. Starts out pretty basic and works its way up to longer words with more sounds and longer stories for them to read. The program also comes with a CD which brings the lesson to life. There is really no better learning tool then a child hearing the sounds of the words.

Lesson One starts out with the sounds: c, o, s, a and t. I know you think that you child already knows these, but do them anyway. It is a great starting point. It finishes up on Lesson 20 with the sounds: c, g and ph. We aren't quite there yet, but we are working on it.

What I have loved about the program so far is the way that it works. It tells you the new sounds for each lesson and even explains in details what it sounds like. Plus it underlines the letters that the sounds would be blended together: such as with st as well as new letters/sounds that they are just learning.

Example in Lesson One: "Read s as the first sound in the word snake. This is a hissing sound [ss], not [sah] or [es]." It does this for each new sound that the program introduces.

Lesson one starts out with simple sentences, two words, three words and is such a confidence builder for your child. There are also little activities (draw lines to matching words) in each lesson for your child to do.

Each lesson introduces your child to new words and at the end of each lesson there is a review of the key words from that said lesson.

Key words from Lesson 6. Smiley face and all. Love making notes and little encouraging things for the kiddo.

Overall: I am so impressed with this program. As I said in the beginning there was a lot of frustration with trying to teach her to read. I tried a bunch of different things and it just didn't appear like anything was working. Then along came the Reading Lesson. This is an A+ Program and I highly recommend it.

Seeing the joy and smiles on our daughter's face because she is actually "getting it." She loves picking up books now and always goes over with her father each night the new words she has learned and the new sounds. I love seeing her so proud of herself.

Ending thoughts:

Took me a while to realize that this isn't a sprint, its a marathon. Your child (and mine) will need assistance on words, you need to want to help them out with the longer words.  But if they just aren't getting it then maybe they just aren't quite ready for it yet, put it away and start again at a later date.

Please feel free to check out The Reading Lesson.
You can also find them on facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/TheReadingLesson

Disclaimer: I received no monetary compensation for this blog post. I did, however, receive this program free of charge so that we could do a proper review on it. But, all thoughts/opinions are our own and were not influenced by any outside source.

Nina at The Reading Lesson  has graciously offered one of our readers this same product that I reviewed. How awesome is that of them? If you are like me and looking for a program to get your child reading or something for some refresher in reading, then this is the program for you. Please enter in the rafflecopter form below.

Giveaway will end on: July 29th, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. est and is open to residents of the US.

We offer our sincere thanks to Nina and the folks at The Reading Lesson for the opportunity to do a review of this program. We have almost finished up with it and you have saved us (both her and I) a lot of tears and frustrations.
